Adolescent Therapy
finding your voice while navigating change.
The adolescent years can be filled with big emotions, changing relationships, and questions about who you are and where you fit in the world. Even when things look fine from the outside, a teenager may be struggling with anxiety, self-doubt, perfectionism, friendship difficulties, family conflict, or feeling overwhelmed by expectations.
Teens may come to therapy when they are struggling with anxiety, self-esteem, friendships, family relationships, perfectionism, or the many changes that accompany adolescence. I work with adolescents to create a space where they can feel understood without judgment and begin to make sense of what they're experiencing. Together, we explore emotions, relationships, identity, and the patterns that may be getting in the way of feeling confident and connected.
My approach draws on Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment theory, EMDR, and my background in child development. I help teens develop a deeper understanding of themselves while building greater flexibility, self-compassion, and confidence in navigating the challenges of adolescence.
I also believe that parents remain an important part of a teenager's world. When appropriate, I work with parents to help them understand what may be underneath their teen's behavior and find ways to stay connected while supporting growing independence. Building trust is an essential part of my work with adolescents. I give teens space to develop their own therapeutic relationship while helping parents remain appropriately informed and involved. By encouraging teenagers to take an active role in their own healing and growth, therapy empowers them to become more confident, resilient, and self-reliant individuals.
